About the event
Elton Towers, was born and grew up in Watford and has always been a great fan of Elton John from an early age, seeing him live many times including Watford football ground where Elton was chairman for many years during their success and promotion to the 2nd division.
He learnt to play the guitar as a kid and soon progressed to piano and keyboards which gradually took over, in his words... "There were loads of guitarists but not many keys players so I always got the job in bands".
His playing style is heavily influenced by Elton and back then he became a maestro of the synthesizer as well as a piano virtuoso.
After a song writing spree with various rocky bands he spent 8yrs in Switzerland and Italy playing Neapolitan and Italian music, playing in bars, clubs and restaurants to tourists and soon discovered he had a voice which has gone from strength to strength over the years, and he would often throw in a few Elton songs that would always go down well.
Eventually returning to the UK, he settled in Herne Bay, Kent, and worked playing aboard ships for many years, between touring with a rock'n'roll showband.
In the 90s he met with George Williams, lead singer of 'The Thymes', and arranged and produced an original soul album called 'Shades', several tracks of which ET wrote having mild success.
In fact, ET as he's affectionately become known has never stopped gigging since his teens and plays with several bands even now ranging from swing to rock and even an Abba tribute (he's Benny), and plays in a great versatile duo that embraces whatever music takes his fancy, but always at the heart of his playing is Elton Johns music which he portrays with passion and intensity, and sounds extraordinarily like the great man himself.
